 There are many reasons why men and women decide to start up business in their own homes but the number one for women is so that they can be more accessible to the children.

Busy career women struggling to keep abreast in a changing world need to spend more and more time away from their children and for many it is heart-breaking for them each morning to drop their children at child-minding centers.

The cost of childcare has become so high that much of the income earned by their mothers is eaten up, and yet, the quality of the childcare providers is becoming less reliable and safe.

Mothers have always thought that staying home was an impossible dream as they balanced the need to fulfill their own needs and the needs of their children but now it is not.  Unfortunately, not everyone is cut out to run their own home based  business.

Without proper planning starting a business is fraught with danger with many pitfalls for the unwary. Sometimes working from home makes it even more risky. In the beginning you will not have a steady income as you do in your present employee situation. You will have to make arrangements for that. That's okay if you have made arrangements but disastrous if you have not.

If you have family you will definitely need their support. If either partner and/or children are seriously opposed to the idea and will not co-operate or compromise then life will be very unhappy for all concerned whether you are profitable or not.

In the beginning you will have to work very hard and sometimes long hours before your business becomes sufficiently successful for you to relax a little. You and your family have to be aware of this if your enthusiasm and energy is to last the distance.

You have to have a home which has the space which allow your business the privacy that you will need to operate your business. It has been our experience that kitchen table operations rarely last long enough to succeed. So...
