The Secrets To Getting Customers For Your New Business Part 2

If you read Part 1 you will know that there are no secrets to be revealed just good down-to-earth commonsense. No secrets just simple easy-to-use steps that (nearly) always work.

"But I have just gone out on my own; I've got very little money and cannot afford expensive ad campaigns or the services of an Advertising Consultant. Any help for a person like me?

There certainly is!

Step 2 In Your Quest For New Clients

Tell the World

Most new small business owners seem shy about their new status. They do not want to be seen as pushy or (heaven forbid) selling anything to their friends and close acquaintances. This is specially true if they work from home. If they have opened retail premises they might mumble, "I've opened a Gift Shop." but they do not want to impose on their friends.

Your attitude must change. You are happy about your new status, aren't you? It is natural to tell your friends and whoever you meet about what is making you happy isn't it?

Your family and friends will be your best customers in the beginning and it's a win-win situation. You have a great service and not only that but your friends get what they need.

Will they be bored? Not at all! It's better than listening to Uncle Rob's lawn bowls stories they've heard a dozen times or Uncle Kel's jokes that were old when Adam was a boy. The novelty will wear off but by then every one will know you are running a business.

Buying bread in your normal shop? How hard is it to say, " Guess what, I don't work for that Accounting Firm anymore. I've gone into business for myself. I'll be completing State Tax Returns for my own clients now instead of the Boss's."

You have seen him every day for years so will he be interested? He sure will because  you are an important customer and he wants to keep you happy. He'll be glad to take some of your cards. Ask him if he has any tips for a new business owner. You will be pleasantly surprised at what it can lead to.

You've just been appointed a wedding celebrant and do not have any clients yet. Tell the people at your gym. People are always interested in what a celebrant does and enjoy talking about it. Give them some cards so they can refer you to those friends who are thinking of getting married. People love to use people they know rather than strangers.

But they must know that you are in the game, first.

And the very best thing about this type of promotion is that it is free and it works. When you have exhausted this pool, of course, you will need to do something else. We'll talk about that in Part 3
